Audi has broadened its selection of electric mobility products by introducing a special edition electric pedal assist mountain bike (EMTB) with an enduro style, powered by Fantic and available through Audi's official accessories. The new Audi EMTB showcases a design influenced by the futuristic look of Audi's victorious electric Dakar rally car, the RS Q e-tron.
Collaborating with Fantic, an Italian manufacturer of motorcycles and e-bikes, the Audi EMTB is based on Fantic's XEF 1.9 Factory Enduro E-Bike model. The frame, made of lightweight aluminum, is ergonomically designed to provide a comfortable riding position for better maneuverability on challenging terrains. The bike is equipped with a mixed wheel setup, with a 29-inch wheel in the front and a 27.5-inch wheel at the rear, offering a balance between easy rolling over obstacles and nimble cornering.
Featuring a full-suspension design, e-bike-specific Mavic tubeless-ready wheels, and Vittoria e-bike-rated off-road tires, the Audi EMTB is suitable for various terrains, including bike paths, touring, and rugged off-road trails. It comes with adjustable suspension components, including a 180mm travel coil-sprung Öhlins TTX22M.2 rear shock and an air-sprung Öhlins RXF38 M.2 fork.
The bike's 1x12 drivetrain is managed by SRAM's GX rear derailleur and bar-mounted shifter, with an 11-51 tooth rear cassette. Braking power is provided by Sunstar Braking's F.I.R.S.T. calipers and S3 Batfly rotors, with sizes of 220mm at the front and 203mm at the rear.
The Audi EMTB powered by Fantic offers riders four levels of electric assistance, reaching speeds up to 20 mph: Eco, Tour, Sport, and Boost. The estimated battery range varies between 12 and 90 miles, depending on factors like terrain, rider weight, and level of assistance. Each mode is optimized for specific riding conditions, with Eco for efficiency, Tour for a moderate boost, Sport for intense cycling, and Boost for maximum assistance.
Equipped with a 720 Wh, 36-volt lithium-ion battery hidden within the frame, the EMTB powers a silent and efficient Brose S-Mag 250-watt motor delivering up to 90 N·m of torque. A digital display on the handlebars provides riders with essential data like assist level, battery status, and speed at a glance. A warning indicator alerts riders when the battery level drops below 10%.
Deliveries of the Audi EMTB powered by Fantic are anticipated to begin this summer, with a retail price of $9,795 before taxes.
